About Me

Maggie Corrigan

I’m a middle school library media specialist with Masters Degrees in both Information Science and Teaching English. My training and work experience have made me both a numbers geek and a grammar nerd. In Information Science, I worked extensively with spreadsheets, databases and html coding for Library Development, a department of the New York State Library. When I worked as a High School English Teacher, my favorite lessons were grammar and research paper editing.

I found my way into technical editing after deciding to stay home with small children for a few years. Working as a freelance technical editor is the perfect way to marry my strengths (spreadsheets and grammar). I’ve finished Joeli Kelly’s Learn to Tech Edit, A Masterclass in Grading, and Making Schematics in Inkscape courses. I’ve also completed Faina Goberstein’s Sizing Knitwear Patterns on Craftsy.

Just a little obsessed with the fiber arts, I’ve been knitting since 2010. Never one to balk at a challenge, I love sweaters and complicated or unusual designs. Visit me on Ravelry to peruse my project pages. Within the last couple of years I’ve expanded my repertoire to spinning on my Lendrum, and I’ve recently purchased a Rigid Heddle Loom for weaving experimentation and an old punch card knitting machine, so I can play with yarn and computer codes at the same time!
